John Loren Ostendorf, age 33 of Raymond, appeared in court Thursday on a felony charge of false imprisonment for allegedly
taking a woman for a ride in a vehicle and not allowing her to get out or call for help. Ostendorf also faces gross misdemeanor
charges of stalking and interfering with a 911 call. Kandiyohi County sheriff’s department was called December 18th to a Willmar
residence. A woman there, who had previously had a relationship with Ostendorf, reported that she had asked Ostendorf for a
ride to a Willmar store and that he had come to her home and given her a ride. However, instead of driving her to the store, he
drove East to Kandiyohi and then North, would not let her out of the vehicle and prevented her from calling 911. Ostendorf
eventually returned to Willmar and the woman was able to call for help, and get out of the car. While the deputy was talking with
the woman, Ostendorf called the woman’s phone and talked with the deputy. He allegedly admitted to preventing the woman
from calling 911 and said he wouldn’t let her out of the vehicle because he wanted to talk things out with her. Unconditional bail
was set at $5,000. His next appearance is March 28th.

A broadside accident occurred in Chippewa County, Saturday at 3 AM on Highway 7. Ryan Hillenbrand, age 20 of Kandiyohi was
taken to the Willmar Hospital with a non life threatening injury. The Hillenbrand vehicle, a 2002 Ford pickup was totaled. The
driver of the second vehicle, a yet to be identified, 61 year old male from Madison, was taken to North Memorial Hospital in critical
condition. His vehicle, a 1979 Oldsmobile was totaled. Hillenbrand was North bound on a gravel road, and struck the other vehicle
as it was East bound on Highway 7.

A fatal stabbing occurred Friday in Montevideo around 8:45 PM at the Pizza Ranch. The first officer arrived minutes later and found
a female lying on the ground and a male standing over the female holding a knife. The officer drew her firearm and ordered the
man to put down the knife. He complied and was taken into custody. Medical care was given to the female, and she was taken
to the Montevideo Hospital, where she died from numerous stab wounds. The victim was identified as Vinessa Lozano, age 18
of Montevideo. The suspect, Darek Nelson, age 24 of Montevideo is being held at the Yellow Medicine County Jail.
The victim and the suspect were both employees at the Montevideo Pizza Ranch.

Darek Nelson has been charged with 2nd degree murder, and is being held on $750,000 bail.

Jovan Michael Riley, age 20 of Appleton, appeared in court on a 3rd degree assault charge for allegedly beating a man and causing
four fractures in the man’s facial bones. Officers were called Thursday morning to a rural Pennock residence along 135th Avenue
Northwest regarding an assault. A man there, who was bleeding from his mouth and nose and who had other facial injuries, told
them that he’d had an argument with Riley, who then hit him several times in the face. Riley was arrested on the assault charge
and on probable cause on terroristic threats and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The victim was taken to the hospital, where
doctors located four fractures in his face including his nose, eye socket and two fractures of his cheekbone. Unconditional bail
for Riley was set at $30,000. Riley’s next court appearance is January 23rd in Kandiyohi County District Court.

A semi crash occurred on highway 67 West of Clarkfield. Marvin Hildahl, age 79 of Clarkfield was driving a 1987 Frieghtliner
Conventional truck around 10:36 Tuesday morning when he left the road and struck the entrance approach to a field. Hildahl was
transported to Granite Falls Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Two people were taken by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital and one person was later flown by helicopter to the Sioux
Falls hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a one vehicle rollover Friday night in Lac Qui Parle County. The crash occurred
around 10:45 PM Friday about two miles West of Lac Qui Parle Village. A 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse was West bound and rolled into
the ditch several times. Two occupants, Justin Ridler, age 23 of Maynard, and David Dunlap, age 27 of Madison, were involved in
the accident.

A plane piloted by Gary Debaun, age 63 of Lakeville, experienced mechanical problems and crashed in Lamberton Township in
Redwood County just before noon on Thursday. Debaun received minor injuries from the crash, but the plane he was piloting
was a total loss. Debaun was piloting a Pitts Special SPS 1 aircraft. He attempted to make an emergency landing on Highway
14, but lost control shortly after. The plane entered the ditch and struck several trees before rolling over.

Montevideo Police responded to a 1 vehicle rollover at the intersection of County Road 42 and Highway 212, around 2:30 AM
Sunday. A 2001 Chevy Impala driven by Louis Rodriguez, age 32 of Montevideo left the roadway, vaulted over the intersection,
and rolled. Road conditions were dry at the time, and the cause of the crash has not been released.

A broadside accident occurred Friday, at 6:17 PM on Highway 7 and Kandiyohi County Road 8. Cameron Anderson, age 25 of
Clarkfield was treated and released from the Willmar Hospital. Anderson's vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Durango was not damaged.
The driver of the other vehicle, Zachary Sulflow, age 24 of Lake Lillian was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis in critical condition.
Passengers in the vehicle, Wade Mcdougal, age27 of Clarkfield, and Cheyenne Anderson were both treated and released from
the Willmar Hospital. Their vehicle, a 1998 Chevy Blazer was totaled. The Dodge was East bound on Highway 7. The Chevy was
West bound on Highway 7, turning onto County Road 8, in front of the Dodge.

A 1 vehicle rollover with a fatality occurred Thursday, at 9:48 PM on Highway 59 and 7, South of Milan. Anthony Dittes, age 19 of
Appleton died from injuries from the accident. The vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Tahoe was totaled. The vehicle was North bound and
went off the road to the left, entered the ditch and rolled, coming to a stop in the South bound ditch, just off the shoulder facing
East.

Jordan Dean DeGrote, age 20 of Raymond, appeared in court Thursday on a felony charge of 1st degree burglary for allegedly
entering a Willmar home by forcing his way into the residence. He was released on his personal recognizance. DeGrote also
faces a gross misdemeanor charge for interfering with a 911 call and misdemeanor charges of theft and property damage.
A woman reported that DeGrote had burglarized her home on December 5th by forcing his way in, causing damage to the door.
She reported that he grabbed her cell phone and left after she threatened to call police. DeGrote was interviewed and allegedly
admitting to entering the home, supposedly to get his cell phone. When the woman refused to give him the phone, he took her
phone and left. His next court appearance is January 17th.

A Hector family lost their home, dog and four cats Friday when a fire broke out at their residence. The home of Michael and Tammy
Radloff, located five miles Northwest of Hector in Melville Township, was destroyed in the blaze. A passing motorist noticed the
fire around 11 PM. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters from Bird Island and Hector arrived on scene. They remained
on scene for nearly five hours. The family was not home at the time.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train loaded with grain had a minor derailment Thursday afternoon South of Russel. The train was
interchanging on a Canadian Pacific rail line between Russel and Florence around 12:45 PM. Three wheels of one locomotive left
the tracks. An investigation leading to the cause of the derailment is underway. No injuries were reported.

Former Montevideo teacher and coach Duane Jennett, age 80 of Ortonville, formerly of Montevideo passed away earlier in the
week. Funeral arrangements are with the Larson Funeral Home. Service will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, at First English
Lutheran Church in Ortonville, beginning at 2 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Duane is survived
by his wife, Mary; daughter, Susan (Matt) Woodcock; son, Paul (Lori) Jennett; five grandchildren – Matt, Mark, and Kate Woodcock,
Lake and Hayden Jennett; his sister, Jan (Phil) Garrett; and numerous other relatives and devoted friends. Duane was inducted
into the Montevideo Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. He was also a sports broadcaster for KMGM and KDMA Radio Stations in
Montevideo.
