Flooding is forecast for Montevideo and Granite Falls
The Flood Warning continues for
the Minnesota river at Montevideo.
* At 1:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 13.1 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Wednesday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 17.9 feet by Monday morning March 22nd.
Additional rises are possible thereafter. Note last report the
Chippewa river is still ice covered. So contributing water from
the Chippewa river at Montevideo may cause fluctuations to the river
levels.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... sanitary sewers begin to be affected at this
level.
* Flood history... this level compares to a previous crest of 18.3 feet
on Mar 29 2009.
The Flood Warning continues for
the Minnesota river at Granite Falls.
* At 7:00 am Tuesday the stage was 886.9 feet. Note these
readings are being impacted by ice.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 888.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Thursday evening and continue
to rise to near 891.0 feet by Tuesday morning. Additional rises
are possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 889.0 feet... the top of the controlling bank at Highway
212.
* Flood history... this level compares to a previous crest of 891.6
feet on Apr 27 2001.
